Imbabura volcano on the slopes
Imbabura volcano, one of the first volcanoes of the route, started the Third International Meeting of Origami. In the province that bears the name of the mountain, near the city of Ibarra is San Antonio de Ibarra and Pucahuaico community, a place of great historical importance.
Leonidas Proaño was born there, a priest who gave his best years to preach to the Indians a Christian message of freedom, humility and solidarity, through to "Taita Bishop" - as they called the indigenous-peasant communities of Chimborazo, the center of the country and from other communities could organize themselves politically and socially for about 25 years.
The Ecuadorian Association of Origami Pucahuaico went to the north of the country, Origami to teach their communities, precisely the place where born and was buried Monsignor Leonidas Proaño.
For workshops we have the support of beams Colombians who arrived in advance of the meeting: Lina Restrepo, Diego Becerra, Luz Adriana Santana and Diego Suarez.
